The Place Beyond The Pines

A couple weeks ago, M and I got a screener, The Place Beyond the Pines.  After seeing the trailer a few months ago we couldn’t wait.  Especially since it is from the same director who did Blue Valentine, which we loved.  The scene where Ryan sings and plays the ukulele and sings for Michelle Williams melts my heart every time.

The movie stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendez.  Bradley knocks it out of the park!  He was absolutely amazing compared to the other two names.  You could tell he was a trained actor.  I am not knocking my BF Ryan at all, but I just wasn’t into it.  I felt like I have seen him play this character before. Don’t get me started on Eva, less than impressed.

It is a very different movie and Bradley Cooper steels the show.  He very well could be nominated for another Oscar next year.  The movie hits theaters on March 29. I would love to know your thoughts.

Oscars Red Carpet

I love the Oscars!  We had a fabulous party with about 12 of our friends.  We all erupteded with Argo won for Best Picture!  Seruiously I love me some Ben & Jen.  Congrats to my friend Spencer who worked on the film.  M and I are so proud of you being apart of an award winning film.

Love the color of Jen's dress!

Only Charlize can pull off this haircut!

My pick for worst dress.  Gwyneth did it better.

I know this dress isn't anything super special, but it was my favorite of the night.  If I were to rock this I would have incorporated some turquoise earrings and ring.

Let's be honest, Stacy looks amazing!

Jen can do no wrong.  She looked fabulous!

Not only was she in one of my favorite movies of the year, she also rocked it on the red carpet.  Absolute perfection.

Who was your favorite?  Least favorite?

It's Party Time!

My beautiful SIL and I on her wedding day!
c/o Simply Bloom Photography

Happy Birthday the best former roommate/sister-in-law a girl could ask for!

When I was in 5th grade and you were in 4th, I remember your bubbly personality across the hall.  For whatever reason I thought to myself, one day we are going to be friends.  Fast forward about 5 years, little did I know when your older brother, Marco, brought me over to meet his younger sister, it would be you.  Since the moment we met, we have been the best of friends.

I can't imagine you not being in my life.  Our daily emails and texts make 2200 miles not seem so far away.  We are always on the same page with life, marriage, family and fashion bloggers.  You're my biggest cheerleader as I am yours.

Cheers to you on your birthday!
I love you A!

What to Wear

In honor of Oscar week, I have been scouring Pinterest to find the most fabulous dresses that I would love to see on the red carpet.  I think all us ladies can agree critiquing the fashion is one of the best things about this award show.

Oscar Season

This week is one of my favorite weeks of the year, it's Oscar week!  Yes, I am that lame, but I love it. Two years ago we started a tradition of throwing an Oscar Party.  All of our friends loved it so it has officially become our "thing."  This year will be no different.  The menu will include lobster tails, twice-baked potatoes, green beans, champagne and cupcakes.  And of course ballots will be submitted as well.  Last year Corey won.  I think she had seen maybe a handful of movies the whole year, so it goes to show you, you never know who is going to win?!

{photos all from our party last year}

Who's your pick for best feature this year?
My pick is Argo.

Women of LA

The other day my boss was cracking up at his desk and of course I had to know what was going on.  As I peered over his shoulder he was watching this youtube video.  If you have ever been to LA then you will know all these stereotypes are true.  If you think dating sucks in your city,  just be grateful you don't have to date in this city, male or female, or so we have heard from all our single friends.

Happy Weekend Friends!

Hearts & Flowers

Happy Halmark Holiday friends!  Yes, I am one of the many that thinks this holiday is totally overrated.  M & I are not ones to go our for a fancy dinner that cost an arm and a leg or exchange gifts.  That will never be us.  We celebrate at home but cooking together over a bottle of wine.  However you are spending this holiday I hope you enjoy it with your special someone, best friends or by yourself indulging in whatever makes you happy.

My Own Little Reading Nook

Whenever we ever decide to move, a reading nook has been added to my list of must have's.  It doesn't have to be large.  It could be a chair in a corner by a window or my own little alcove filled with lots of pillows.      Since I don't have a space like this now I turned to Pinterest to dream about what could be...

Lots and Lots of Books

One of my new years resolutions has been to read more.  My goal for the year was 12 book, but in January I read seven.  This is extremely odd since it has taken me over a year to get half way through Gone With the Wind and I have no plans on finishing it anytime soon.

I like Fifty Shades of Grey type books, romantic, passionate, makes you curl your toes type books.  I have been on the hunt to find a couple who I can adore as much as I do Christian and Ana.  I’ve had some hits and some misses.

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Absolutely loved this book!  It is great for a beach read.  This story is told from the POV of the female lead.  In the spring, the author is releasing the same story from the male leads POV.  I can’t wait to read it.
Rating: A

Bared to You & Reflected in You by Silvia Day
This and Reflected in You might be my favorites books read in January.  The stories remind me exactly of Fifty Shades so that is why I loved it.  The third book of this series comes out this spring as well.  I can’t wait to see what happens next for this couple.
Rating: A

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
I enjoyed this story.  It is more of a high school/college type of love story, but it was entertaining.
Rating: B

Slammed by Colleen Hoover
This book was just okay.  I thought the premise was cute and I enjoyed the character development, but it wasn’t a page turner like I had hoped.
Rating: C

Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover
This is the sequel to Slammed.  I wanted to see what happened next to the characters, but I also felt like it fell short.
Rating: C

Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard
When I first started reading this book I hated it.  I was thinking how is the author going to make me like the male lead?  Well, she did and I am about a third of the way through with the second book, Gabriel’s Rapture.
Rating: B+

Please, please, please let me know if you have any suggestions.  I read of Perez Hilton a new, Fifty type of book comes out this week called, Beautiful Bastard.  What is with that title?!  But of course I will read it.

Grammy Fashion

Typically I am not the biggest fan of Grammy fashion, it tends to be a little bit on the more outrageous side for me.  I just can't relate, but last night someone surprised me.

Rihanna
Although she drives me nuts, she nailed it fashion wise last night.  The hair, makeup and dress were perfection.  She was the belle of the ball.

My second runner-up, is {I can do no wrong} Mrs. Underwood-Fisher.  The only think that could make this outfit better is a smile.

The miss of the night is one of my favorites, Jennifer Lopez.  Girl, you are in your forties now, no grown woman should be showing off that much leg!

Who was your favorite of the night?

Always be Beyonce

Dear Fifty Shades of Grey Casting Agent, Will you please just pick someone.  I am sick and tired getting Google alerts saying so and so this and that.  I know it takes time to make a movie, but an update her and there would make this chick super happy.  Dear Runyon, This week you are going to be conquered by Katie and I.  We can’t wait!  I feel like hiking you is an LA staple so I can’t wait to cross you off my list.  Dear Work, You flew buy this week and I thank you for that, truly.  Dear Homeland Season 2, I found out today you don’t come out on DVD until August 28.  Do you know how flipping long that is?  I am not the most patient person so if anyone has any suggestions on how I can gain access earlier please let me know.  Unfortunately we don’t have Showtime.  Dear Circuit Training, You sure know how to kick my ass and I love you for it.  Keep it up.  I have about 4 months to get into tip-top Cabo shape.  Dear Friends, Don’t forget to check out my giveaway.  Click here for your chance to win a pair of limited edition T0MS!  They are fab!

Pinning It

Today I am linking up with Katie and Stephanie for Saw it. Pinned it. Did it!

One of M's friend from college runs a pretty successful food blog called, A Cozy Kitchen.  Adrianna is awesome and she just got a Corgi puppy, Amelia, too cute.  She is even cooler in person than she comes off on her blog and on Twitter.  Anyways, before the holidays she shared a DIY project that I had to try.

Original Pin

This is everything you will need.

--Paint I already had at home--
--Painters tape cut into strips--
--Paint brushes--
--Spoons, picked up from T.J. Maxx for less than $6 per set--
--Paper plate--

Section off the handles with the painters tape and go to town!

This is the finished product.  I did two coats and it worked out fine.  I've even put them in the dishwasher and the paint hasn't chipped.

I love the idea of giving these out as hostess gifts or for your own kitchen.
